Scorpio 11° (November 2)

I’m sure that I will end up at the Pig tonight for shepherd’s pie. Dave and Alison will join me. I will chat with Eric L in the meantime and meet some nice folks Julia at the helm. I am not in a position, really, to sit down and be creative by any stretch of the imagination. I have been anesthetizing with four percent beer, nothing stronger. I can’t imagine getting actually drunk, I don’t think my spirit could handle it. I have a pitch I have to dig into. Meanwhile I’m just going to say this: Just off the top of my head: There are astrologers and there are astrologers. It can be quite an academic, metaphysical practice. At the school where we studied, for instance, I couldn’t live long enough probably to learn all there is to learn on the subject. There are about 85 different branches of astrology. Someone who writes a daily horoscope is probably not the person who studied the subject seriously. A daily horoscope basically follows the orbit of the Moon which is the fastest moving “planet” in astrology; and then certain events might happen (a planet going retrograde on a certain day for instance). As you probably realize horoscopes in publications are entertainment. To write a horoscope that would be interesting would entail the writing being talented, clever, maybe funny, and just using the conceit of the platform as an expression of creativity—there really can’t be much astrological “truth” in a horoscope; but it is a means of spoon feeding readers bits of wit and wisdom which is nonetheless helpful and inspiring…. I have a bunch of thoughts from reading the pitch that should clarify a number of questions.Though Cosmic Coupling gives a general view of all the possible 300 (binary) relationships, when an astrologer looks at “compatibility charts” between two actualy individuals, there is far more insight to glean. We need to decide if Z is a truly aspirational and gifted astrologer (who would dive deep into individuals’ charts) or is she a hack, because the pitch doesn’t really address the complexities involved in how a real astrologer would advise a client or friend. The astrologer would know the client-friends chart inside out and then would need to have all the birth info from a would-be mate in order to see how the two charts align. This is done by creating a “bi wheel” chart where one person is superimposed on another. So again, it comes down to Z and how serious she is regarding the subject. If she is serious about her craft then even losing the job a the daily paper would turn out to be a good thing in the end (that’s she’s better and more serious than that). Anyway, we’ll get into it more but a good astrologer would never make a person act one way or another. The astrologer is there to point out a person’s strengths and challenges. When it comes to relationships, every possible relationship likewise has its plusses and minuses. It all depends upon what the individual is looking for in a mate. That is the deciding factor, ultimately. My feeling is you want Z to aspire to be a real, good astrologer?
