Feeling better after chat with Mike. Haven’t heard back yet from Moo. Much to do: Gemini is the sign of community and communication, and nobody requires a network more than the Twins woman. And yet, isolation and alienation are archetypal themes endemic to the sign: Eris and Maleficent are uninvited persona non grata; Tinker Bell isn’t exactly looking to make friends; even poor Sleeping Beauty is in imposed seclusion. Every sign has a paradox, if not a smattering thereof, and this is yours, Gemini. And newsflash: It works both ways, meaning you either celebrate or tolerate others, so keep your celebritantes close and cut loose the mere tolerables. Meanwhile cast a wide network: The happiest Geminis are content with one or two close friends and a thousand acquaintances up against whom they can bump from time to time. Moving the needle: The third astrological house of Gemini is associated with immediate family, siblings, (mainly, first) cousins, schoolmates and early education, neighbors and local community. It is the house of here, opposing the ninth house of Sagittarius, ruling all things out there. Drawing on the archetypes of Peter Pan and Robin Hood, Gemini males are ringleaders of their own merry bands of boon companions, drawing to him such “lost boy” characters who take his cues and do his bidding. Difficult morning. All info from lawyer. Moving forward: This might be an easy one (for any other sign but you that is): As clever as being born under Mercury-ruled Gemini can make you, it’s none too cinchy to slow up that quicksilver mind of yours, never mind still it. You are the original spin doctor and, as such, you have a way of stretching the truth if not abandoning it all together. You also have a habit of rationalizing behavior, the ends justifying your means. So, here is your challenge, one which you might attempt to sustain, first, for let’s say just an hour: You are going to avoid doing, saying or even thinking anything negative (and yes even white lies are considered as such). The doing and even the saying might seem simple enough, but it’s the stinkin’ thinkin’ you’ll have the hardest time monitoring, let alone eradicating. Of course, this all works by the honor system. As you’re reading this you might be like “easy peasy,” and in truth you may be able to keep yourself from entertaining negative thoughts about other people, places and things—although that is truly doubtful at first—the real kicker, you might be surprised to discover, is how many negative thoughts pass through your noggin that are directed at you. Have you heard yourself think? You can be quite hard on you, sometimes downright abusive. So maybe you can start with just an hour in the morning before your mind begins racing, and little by little you’ll extend this; obviously there needn’t be any limit on this exercise because, well, it would be phenomenal if you could live a life completely devoid of negative thoughts, words and deeds. On route to that improbable possibility, though, the leading goal here is to stop treating your psyche like a punching bag, and, in so doing, realize that the negative messaging you may be sending/giving are parroted bits of abuse that others from your past may’ve visited upon you. The desired outcome, thus, in the process, is to develop some compassion for numero uno, which is the quickest way of curing you of laying negative trips on others.

There are two birthdays today neither of which I will celebrate. I’m down a Manifest rabbit hole. There is always a reason for such things. Of course as the program develops the two Mashas appear. The Plunks is still the best, while the Marvel never really struck me as one. Also getting the house all back in order and bingeing on turkey hot dogs. Don’t judge me: Still moving the needle: So, you’ll want to get a (Taurus color) green or gold notebook for this exercise. As the second astrological house is that of possessions, and your sign’s motto is I have, you are going to fill pages of your notebook with an inventory of all that you possess. This is step one in a three-part process: starting with the basic meaning of appreciation, that is to say “to take stock” of all you have. Each sentence will start with the words I have; and remember that the second house doesn’t discriminate between material content and nonmaterial assets. For example, you might write I have money in the bank; I have a comfy bed; I have lovely painting;, I have good shoes, etc. but you may also include entries like I have pretty eye;, I have a strong work ethic; I have musical talent; I have a wicked sense of humor; I have great taste; I have compassion; and so on. If it’s an aspect of personality, say, that you no longer wish to possess also cross it off, then tell yourself duly noted. So as you continue to read through your list, to which you will forever add, perhaps filling many notebooks in time, repeating I want what I have over and over, like an incessant prayer, then the third-fold of appreciation sort of happens automatically. Whereas the first step of taking inventory is practical; and the second step of expressing gratitude is emotional;  the third form of appreciation is rather spiritual, in the sense that you will feel yourself appreciate, your metaphysical stock rising, suffusing you with increasing sense of value, worth and self-esteem.

Hit a wall, feeling incredibly overwhelmed. That spiral feeling. The only way out is through. So we power through: The subject is Taurus: We’ve discussed the importance of appearances to your sign as part and parcel of your making a statement, a nod to the voice being under Taurus rule, and the gullet too, symbolizing your appetite to appeal and, ironically, be consumed by others. Your ruler Venus, and her power of attraction, adds up to a lot of time spent in the real and metaphoric mirror. We applaud this Taurus brand of self-consciousness! Perhaps you’ve felt the need to develop a signature look but have never done so; or maybe you have long adopted a trademark style that could nonetheless benefit from a revisit and revamp. Exploring the old adage that you are who you appear to be, and wanting to advocate for some truth in advertising, consider the question: Does the way you package yourself say who you are and how you want others to see you? Gemini 22° (June 12)

Did a little grooming, got a little Sun, hier. I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked but I never do when I have so much to tackle on the home front let alone make some headway on all the moving book parts. But here I go, swinging low: Drawing on your flower-gods archetype, Taurus is characterized by myriad means and meanings of unfolding, all in accordance with the notion that a flower doesn’t open its petals halfway—it performs a full expression of itself. To unfold, first, means to relate key experiences to date, which we prescribe doing bit by bit, episodically, keeping a journal in which you record stand-out stories that come to mind, in no specific order—clearing your sign-ruled throat and voicing the second-house content of your life. Be short and sweet, imagining each journal entry as a little flower bed—a quick sketch of the episode. Only after you’ve have logged a couple dozen, or fifty or a hundred, quick outlines of these stories will you go back and further unfold them, now, in terms of developing, growing and evolving each story, but still offering just a short sentence or two on the “take-away”, the moral to the story, how the experience furthered your own personal evolution. Gemini 21° (June 11)

Well the truth comes out one way or another.  Going to switch gears today and try and get may hay on some fun text-box ideas. Catching up to myself for sure in the coming days and then full steam ahead, with both of us on same page. We got this: A famous (Aries) Diana Ross quote is: “Instead of looking at the past, I put myself twenty years ahead and try to look at what I need to do now in order to get there then.” Resisting the temptation to make some correlation between Athena goddess of wisdom and The Wiz, Miss Ross is definitely onto something. But let’s start with five years—we can always work up to twenty. So, Aries, project yourself five years into the future and, as a bit of narrative therapy, you going to tell us (yourself, really), speaking in first person in the present tense, exactly what you’ve been up to and accomplished during the last/next five years. Here’s a way to structure this assignment of self-reflective therapy. Block out five days. Each of the five days you’re going to perform the same task, which is to write the story of how “the past” five years have manifested for you. You must not read back on what you write/wrote until the five-day period is over.  At that point you will go back and read from the first day and see how it is your ideas of yourself and your accomplishments evolved even in just those five days. You will likely find that on day one you wrote about the “last” five years in different terms than you on subsequent days. The purpose of this prescriptive exercise is to gain insight into how you think about what is truly most important to you to achieve in this short span of life. Morever, the aim is to imprint on your subconscious what really matters to you. Without ever having to go back and refer to these five essays, you will instinctively begin to make decisions and take such actions that align with what you will have determined, over the course of these five days, are your truly essential goals.

Well the truth comes out one way or another.  Going to switch gears today and try and get may hay on some fun text-box ideas. Aries rules the head, and in our philosophy the face is especially significant when speaking about the Ram female—Ewe—as it is synonymous with identity and image. The symbol of the sign is meant to signify the Ram’s horns, but it also illustrates the brow line, connoting wisdom. The great Athena is both goddess of war and wisdom. Her totem owl, a wise symbol, is distinguished for its face, which, like a human, has eyes facing front. Athena fights the good fight, and is a singularly civilized, diplomatic deity, one of strict principles by which to live. She is forever keeping people in check, her myths mainly following a retaliatory theme where she (rather brutally) teaches lessons to those she considers wrong or out of bounds. And woe to any ancient who bragged about being better than she—Athena doesn’t take losing face lying down. You can relate, Aries. There is a pattern in her myths where she always takes on some disguise when appearing to the soon-to-be punished party. Likewise, Arya Stark’s religion is that of the many-faced god which involves her slapping on flesh masks she’s sliced off other people’s heads so to exact her own retaliatory acts. All that said, your mission, Aries, is to make a list of all the most prominent and present people in your life—this will be column one. Then, column two, list the role you play in relation to that person. Then, third column, record in a word or two what you want from this person, the role they should play in your life. Lastly, fourth column, try to pinpoint the “weapons” you use in an effort to bring about what you desire from them. Note: not all the names on the list will be allies; rather, as you keep your enemies close, you should include those about whom, like Arya, you have revenge fantasies. The point is for you to be totally honest about the many guises you genuinely wear, for ill or nil, by astrological design. Seeing all this on paper might inspire letting go of certain faces you put on or inspire you to double down on others.

Gemini 19° (June 9)

Watched the Bo Burnham “Inside” show thought it great but some mixed feelings. Anyway some thoughts: In keeping with the first sign of Aries ruling the span of life from zero to seven years, the first card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot is The Fool, which is numbered zero, meaning unlimited potential. He is a vagabond, a wild man, looking skyward, while approaching a precipice. Like the sign of Aries, the Fool represents new beginnings. A clean slate, carte blanche, as befits the color white associated with Aries, symbolizing both innocence and surrender—the fool carries a white rose to hit home the symbolism. His ignorance of where he’s going seems rather blissful. He’s pure Id, the picture of surrendered Ego, with no major baggage, carrying all he needs for his life journey in a tiny bindle over his shoulder. Like the true you, Aries, he’s a minimalist, and he’s letting the proverbial it all go. And so are you going to: With all the time and energy you have spent bolstering and proving yourself, trying to make an impact, especially, counting and rattling off your accomplishments, impressing us with all you know and have done, it’s time to let go of all this accumulated Ego stuff. In so doing you are going to make a list of all your faults, foibles, failures, faux-pas, flops and fiascos and then, fool, you’re going to say something funny about them. Yes, this is a lesson in laughing at yourself and self-deprecation is the ultimate goal here, but you might end up with a tight ten minutes, or a whole set even, of stand-up. And with every crack you take at yourself, your emotional load becomes that much lighter and the limits on your true potential are permanently lifted.

Gemini 18° (June 8)

Got my work cut out for me: The first astrological house of Aries is associated with the physical body as it is one and the same with spirit, symbolized by the element of fire. The upper-case Self is the intersection of the divine spark that animates us and our corporeal temple. Embodying the warrior archetype, Aries is wired to attack life, to demonstrate through action who he is and what he is fighting for. The first house is akin to the hardware of a computer, the system on which additional programs are run. Not to say you’re basic, Aries, but life can be simpler than you make it. You needn’t prove yourself to the world as much as you feel you do. So, we have prescribed for you what we call the sixty-percent resolution, to train your mind and spirit in the art of doing less and being more. You are literally going to lop-off forty percent from your schedule, to-do list and the hours you spend overworking, overdoing. Even if you are in a career where you feel you have to be in overdrive working overtime, trust: those who work smart instead of hard are those who succeed faster in their fields. Also, coming across as someone who has something to prove sends a message that you are, or consider yourself to be, somehow lacking. In addition to creating space in your daily calendar, you’re going to rise a half or full hour earlier than you normally do, so that you can move at a slower pace in the morning, maybe meditating for fifteen minutes, or just making you’re a.m. that much more Zen. As the day goes on you must check yourself for any signs of rushing, which is an absolute no-no. Imagine yourself sitting in the back seat of a chauffeured limousine instead of driving a racy sportscar. Do forty-percent less talking, too, in conversations, and that much more listening.
