Scorpio 22° (November 14)

Had dinner at like four a.m. My body clock is all off. Made a lovely chicken but promptly realized I can’t eat it by myself. I have to get off this current roller coaster and start making things real for myself. I will eat Spiritus pizza as my only other (late) meal of the day and oh my god is it good. Back to work: She likes to keep all her friendships separate (mainly because she is delivering the same monologue to everyone, individually. As I say she might bend your ear on the phone talking about how the world is currently serving her lemons and then hang up with you and pick up the phone with someone else and do exactly the same thing. She is a habitual self-helper, but the self-help rarely seems to take hold. The thing is: She can be VERY funny. It is one of the more comedic signs. And comedy is often a way for her to exorcise her self-esteem issues, through self-deprecation or simply acting wacky, and especially juvenile. Think of Molly Shannon, Lily Tomlin, Melissa McCarthy, Nicole Byers, Leslie Jones, Maria Bramford—the list goes on. The notion of being stuck in a sort of eternal adolescence not only befits the Virgo myth of the virgin Kore (whose mother aspect is Demeter) and her mother issues but it also speaks to her being the “eager beaver” of the zodiac who, often times, can’t seem to give it away. (Stevie’s anxiety might be over not losing her virginity.) The character Monica in “Friends” is a Virgo archetype. The name means among other things: alone (mono) but also to advise and even nun. Monica is outshined by her brother in her parents’ eyes, and yet she is also indulged (she is given the rent stabilized apartment); her experience as an adult is hinged on having been an (overweight) adolescent. Virgo rules digestion and she becomes a chef. She is also a highly competitive know-it-all and is the caretaker of the group, playing mother. Virgo women especially play the role of den mother, especially to gay men. This might inform Stevie’s relationship with Manny; but she would likely also have other gay besties or administer to his group of friends. Using that art school analogy again, she is the proverbial, dare I say “fag hag”, as un-p.c. as it is to do so. Virgo (the opposite sign to Pisces) is that of Mary Magdalene who, let’s face it, was the original groupie to a bunch of guys. Whereas Virgo makes mothers of other women, copping their styles, she looks to (gay) men for her education in all things art, fashion, music and culture. The zodiac’s eternal little sister (to males), the tag-along, she insinuates herself, administering to their needs, rendering them reliant on her.

Scorpio 21° (November 13)

Going to have a little fun today. Take a stroll. I was walking past William Scott gallery and heard Neneh Cherry playing. Popped in and met…I think his name is Tophie? Then went to Baie to see if Raina was there. She wasn’t but Matty was manning the ship. Decided to treat myself to oysters and some crab legs at Squealing Pig as my one meal today. Went to hang out with Tim for a bit. Stopped in at Loveland and Austin was there wrapped in a blanket reading a book. I had to pick up my jacket and decided to buy some of the good organic wines from Perry’s and put them in my backpack. But Billy came in and gave me a ride home. Spent the evening cooking and on garde manger. Chicken, potatoes, Salad, which won’t be eaten…I’m so happy to have my jacket backet LOL. Some cosmic thoughts: Virgo Woman: Stevie still reads very much the Virgo but, as we discussed, we really could infuse her with that know-it-all quality as well as that signature sign thing of assuming she is in relationships with people who have no clue. Virgos have infamous relationships with their mothers—the my-mother-myself sign. Very often their mothers are also Virgos. Virgo’s tend to be treated in youth with a brand of pity from their parents (mothers especially) so they can suffer from self-esteem and yet be indulged at the same time. Many Virgo girls are given big assists by their parents who project this notion that the Virgo is somehow to disabled to make it on her own (apartments bought or rented for her, weekly allowances well into adulthood, etc.) There is a bit of Munchausen by Proxy going on. As if family needs her to need them. She (thus) also tends to suffer from a form of arrested development. She often has a male sibling whom the parents might see as the golden child who can do no wrong. So she feels in competition with sibling(s) often but that, it’s a moot point, she can never win. She might run with this and project this parental thing onto her sibling but also onto friends, typically older ones, with whom she bonds and forms mini mother-daughter relationships. Might be interesting in light of her own relationship with Leva. She also “appropriates” the traits of other women, nearly becoming them at times, just as she and her own mom might have dressed in matching outfits or something.

Scorpio 20° (November 12)

I know I had a busy day, doing what I couldn’t tell you. As I am writing these entries in retrospect, with a very blurry memory considering this past two weeks, nay these past two, nay, these past four months plus, it is a wonder that I have the fortitude to keep this Blague going. But I must. I know that in writing it is the only way that I will find my way out. I have to write and write and write I now realize. I have to use my talents to get out of this hole. Someone back recently called me talented and clever. Talented and clever. Those are insults in my book. Anyway, we are going to get there. We are going to figure out everything. I will get dressed up and go to Strangers again, just have some wine and octopus, then I’ll stroll downtown. I decide to do a little dancing at one place and then karaoke at another, and still get home at a decent hour. It was a fine night in the end and had lovely time chatting with folks at dinner at the lounge. I’m so incredibly lonely that I’m dancing as fast as I can. I recognize the signs. Still working on TV ideas: Mythology is filled with Apollo seeking vengeance for someone unfairly treating others or simply trash talking them. His golden arrows of retribution are especially painful so the story goes. I think a lot of fun can be had with Manny on this paradoxical spectrum of seeking love and people pleasing and then letting others have it when they do him wrong. Also he must learn to hold himself to the same judgmental standards as he does others, which he may sometimes fail to do. The Scales are by nature judgy and the lofty Libra can have that art-school brand of bite that makes fun of others for being too middle of the road, mediocre or “normal.” This generally stems from being bullied for not being main-stream enough in his youth. You’ll see a lot of “self-invented” Libra characters when you Google—long before it was a cultural norm for anyone to invent “object” names for themselves you had the likes of Libras like e.e. cummings, Le Corbusier, Sting, Flea, Eminem, and many others. His strengths are: Artistic, Idealistic, Socially Conscious (an Activist?), Talented, Aesthetic, Forward-thinking, Liberal, Relationship orientated, Original, Inventive. Weaknesses: Insecure, People pleasing, Judgmental, Compartmentalizing, Sensitive, Cutting, Paranoid. Likes: The arts, early morning and evening, small gatherings, lively debate, individual or one-on-one sports, style and decoration. Dislikes: Large gatherings, roughing it, ignorance/prejudice, loud noises, garishness, the low brow.

Scorpio 19° (November 11)

Meeting Tim this morning to sign stuff and get it notarized. Also to have a lovely chat about “it all” sitting in my car looking at the water on this stormy rainy day. I hope he will become part of Afterglow—he doesn’t really have to do much. Doing little market shops per day. Very French. Anyway I’m going to continue with my thoughts: The sign of the Scales does measure and keep score and count and can suddenly feel unappreciated and verbalize these feelings with a vengeance. The sign of Libra is the only inanimate sign in the zodiac—all the rest are humans or animals—in fact, zodiac means “circle of animals, sharing an etymology with the word zoo. So, they can be very abstract thinkers, and very conceptual; while, again others might see the Libra as “an idea”, not someone you would readily call “real.” When in fact, what he does share with Pisces is this ability (it’s never too late) to “become” the person he might have been, a personification of that George Eliot adage. The sign of Libra is about one-on-one relationships but the primary one being relationship with self. Now you might ask how do these things go together? Well (and this is true for all of us, but mostly for Libra) the development of our own characters and no where else more accelerated than they are when we are faced with a relationship, especially an intense one-on-one relationship. Libra doesn’t become the other person. He becomes more himself by way of the relationship dynamic and he is a catalyst for his partner to do likewise, which may result, ironically, in the other person outgrowing him. In Sextrology the Libra man chapter is titled The Character, encompassing all the myriad meanings the title can entail. He might seem a cartoon character to some but really his lifelong trajectory is hinged on discovery of self (a sense of which he doesn’t typically have in spades in his youth) and the development of his own character and integrity. And yes he is “an abstract” in the sense that he stands for, indeed personifies, some pretty lofty ideals which either inspire or repel others. He is an agent of good, but he holds the bar high, and if you disappoint him on an idealistic level, which you cannot help doing at some point or other, he will take it personally, often very much so.

Scorpio 18° (November 10)

Couldn’t tell you what happened today but I will check my receipts. All I see in my notes is “Fanizzi probably” which might make sense. These days I’m mainly deal with insurance and stuff. Still driving an SUV that I don’t really enjoy. Thinking about how to fix the scratches and stuff. Thoughts like this do end up consuming me. I do need to be a paying customer, in the Afterglow narrative, if I am going to get any support in return. Nextrology and the Blue idea. A good stationer shop, perhaps with some kind of printing concession. I don’t know where this will all go. I do feel that I could bring some goodness to a collaboration, if not a partnership. On to more ideas on the cosmic character theme: . In Manny’s case you are immediately dealing with this sense of unrequited love; the trick is to isolate just how much he learns in each so-called rejection. Apollo’s son is also called Linus (meaning flax, once again, a seed). He was a great orator, just like the Peanuts character, Apollo being the god of oration. Manny is probably quite eloquent on one hand; while his dark side might emerge in a verbally cutting, even abusive ability. Libra men do want to be liked; by everyone. The motto of the sign is We are (also I balance). They want all to be fair and equitable. They can’t abide one-sided bonds or those in which people aren’t sharing equally. The kicker is that all relationships to Libra are one-on-one relationships. They have a hard time being casual with those whom they seek to people their lives. They want to know how important they are (to everyone). No wonder Daphne turns herself into a tree. There is a sense that Libra man would be “too much” for most people and they do in fact drive others away. Their expectations can be too great. There is an insecurity to this sign despite what are typically a great many talents—they do benefit from focusing on one in particular, though they are rarely able to do so to the exclusion of other means of expression. We talked about light being made up of seven colors, and people of the seventh sign like to show all theirs. This can make them appear like “lightweights” to others who don’t understand all they bring to the table. Libra man is often suspected or accused of not having enough substance. They can be people pleasers, their “cardinal” energy going outward, shining their light on others; but then what happens is they want the same attention and affection in return.

Scorpio 17° (November 9)

Am meant to do a movie today. They keep changing the time. And the place. But they promise dinner. I will go, get covid-tested, get my costume (I brought) steamed and be directed to craft services. It is peanuts and Bugles. I’m outta here. Yes I will leave the set and the whole thing behind. Nobody needs this kind of abuse. It’s why I never pursued this biz in the first place. Now to focus on more work ideas: Libra Man: Now that you have a feel of the Pisces person, though men and women of the sign are quite different, you might see how the character you’ve outlined as Manny wouldn’t be a Fish necessarily. Pisces man does tend to be the most detached “Drifter” of the Zodiac, never really wanting to be tied down. Even though he may be in a lifelong relationship, he generally works it out that he has a solitary professional life, especially if it involves a life of solo excursions. Pisces, regardless of sex/gender, do prefer the “company of strangers.” For him, it means new people to impress without his (same) schtick getting old, with Pisces woman it is about new opportunities to let her empathy go to work and offer guidance (or that siren call). But oops we are still talking about Pisces. Let’s try that again…Libra Man: Because the sign of Libra is that of relationships, marriage, contracts, deals and one-on-one relationships, its very much about the power of the bond being greater than the sum of each part. Libra man is typically attracted to characters that (he sees as being) aspirational. The character Pip (meaning seed) in “Great Expectations” who is in love with Estelle (the Star) is a Libra figure. As is Linus the Peanuts character with his own expectation of the Great Pumpkin. Libra man is an idealist which, you guessed it, is his greatest strength and his most fatal flaw. This is the cardinal-light sign. It is about leading with ones principles, seeing oneself, especially in youth, as being all goodness and light; and yet (as we discussed) pretty much every story about the god of light, Apollo, is one of being rejected and unloved by the object of his affection. And the thing about light is that: it casts a long shadow. So the trajectory for the Libra man is often about losing his starry notions on the way through life, which can sound like a sad thing. But again, as mentioned, it is ennobling. Daphne would rather be turned into a laurel tree than be with him, but Apollo then forever wears a wreath of laurel as a crown, ennobled by the unrequited love. Of course, we get the word laureate from this myth.

Squealing Pig for some Oysters. I don’t remember what else I ate. These posts this past few years are seriously existential, because I am basically just trying to survive. The other Tim’s birthday. Why do I even know that. I am quite cut off at this point which is very difficult. Anyway I’m going to push on and do the work at hand: Leo Woman: footnote on that character. Leo and Pisces are drawn to one another. They share an energy of passion and desire. It is very tempting for the Fish to let the Lion take control, especially if there are some major perks involved, but often the price tag can be too high and Pisces losses herself a bit too much in what can increasingly feel like a transactional bond. Scorpio 15° (November 7)

Nice brunch today at the pig. I believe then a tiny bite first at Strangers. Met up with the Carney twins who dragged me to karaoke. A revelation. Uh oh. This will end up being trouble at some point but a kind of grace as well. I have been working my tail off coming up with ideas as I still unpack (both literally and figuratively). Doing the best I can is all I can do as we all know so that’s my story and sticking to it. I really could use an electronic version of Cosmic Coupling but that’s a subject for another day. I will at some point need to find a way to create a path through my storage space. Anyway more thoughts on the project at hand: Finding ones true self, for a Pisces, may entail losing it. On another banal note: Zasz would likely have an astrologer mentor(s) who may even be surrogate parent(s) whom she reveres, relies on, but perhaps ultimately rescues on some level. The Pisces archetype being savior who delivers or siren who drowns others. Unlike an Aquarius for whom this would all be “in her head” for the Pisces, the journey she is on is one that happens via that dreamy power of belief, which creates a great deal of synchronicity in her experience. Things seemingly coincidentally happen for a Zasz….blessed are those who believe without seeing!  Also, one wonders if Zasz is pansexual. I know her relationship in the pitch is with a woman, but those opposite facing Fish do tend to go both, if not all, ways. I would say Pisces strengths are: Intuitive, Empathetic, Dreamy, Imaginative, Compassionate, Spiritual (Old Soul), Wise, Generous, Expressive/Dramatic! Her weaknesses are: Delusional, Indulgent, Escapist, Manic/Depressive, Martyrdom, Secretive, Wishy-washy. Likes: Being alone (but the company of strangers), sleeping/reading, romance, dancing, definitely spiritual themes and study. Scorpio 14° (November 5)

This seems like rather a lost day I do remember eating leftovers and pasting it all together. And it is possible I just stay home. Then again I can imagine that I went out for octopus once again. But I don’t see any receipts that might suggest this has actually occurred. I’m just going to focus on my writing and ideas for the project at hand: If you have ever seen (Pisces) Sharon Stone in the Albert Brooks film The Muse?….it is other people’s belief in the Pisces that in large part empowers her to be extraordinary or indeed extrasensory. We talked about Zasz having had a sense since a young age of being an empath, an intuitive, a medium or indeed psychic but not having a means of directing that element of self. Thus, astrology becomes the conduit for her intuition; or is it imagination. Starsky + Cox would say it’s both. I, magi, nation. One has to creatively visualize in the process of being an astrologer of worth. One has to believe that what they are intuiting/imagining is true for it to ring true. It’s bidirectional—once again those Fish. Pisces suffer from superiority/inferiority complexes. That’s the diva incarnate. They mightn’t demand so much if they didn’t feel so lacking. Pisces power comes through them, they don’t wield it. They can seem passive, docile, socially anxious (needing that drink maybe), self-effacing and yet the exude a force to be reckoned with. We talked about Aphrodite/Mari/Mary. Take the Greek goddess of love for starters. She is love and yet she causes a lot of strife and she is the lover of the god of war, aggressive macho Mars, the wife the lame mensch, clever but compliant, Hephaestus, and yet she objectifies and falls in love the passive pansy (flower god) Adonis. She is the Everywoman. The sign of Neptune, whose symbol trident depicts the triple goddess as seen through those three relationships and the triple-phallus it thus takes to fully mate with her. Aphrodite is met by the three Graces, her forever attendants, at her birth from the sea. There are three Marys together at the crucifixion of Christ, who also witness his resurrection—the mother, the Magdalene and some mysterious, one might say “holy ghost” character.

Scorpio 15° (November 6)

Will go back to Strangers for dinner waiting to talk to A.M. Papardelle with Duck. Anyway on with the work at hand: I could go on forever. And I will. (But paired with these paragraphs I suggest reading Sextrology chapters and perusing the lists of famous people therin. The book is dated on that score so also look at websites just by Googling “famous Pisces woman,” for instance, and seeing who pops up and what traits (you think) they share.) That Neptune energy of of Pisces and the 12^th house is married to the concept of dreams—the Pisces woman chapter in our book is called “The Dream.” Married to the notion of her psychic ability and power of creative visualization: To be a Pisces woman is to live life as if one were having an ongoing lucid dream. Have you ever woken into a dream, knowing you’re dreaming? If you try to impose your will on the situation the dream itself will dissolve, but if you dissolve into the dream, allowing to let it unfold, it can take you to some fabulous places your consciousness wants to go.  It’s a “just trust” situation. The mutable waters, la mer (sea) and la mère (mother Mari/Mary), is a physical representation of the great beyond, that proverbial all, as are the mists and foam (from which Aphrodite emerges). It is the primordial waters from which we emerge and to which we return. It is the universe dissolved into a pure state of energy (we know scientifically that matter itself is an illusion, that it is just a denser form of energy—all is energy, which can neither be created nor destroyed. Imagine personifying that?! The point being that Pisces are most apt to see beyond the veil of the terrestrial plane, whether they choose to or not. On a banal note,  Pisces tend to have their shit together way more than they or we think they do. We and they might consider them(selves) to be these “floundering” Fish, when they typically are on some specifically designed, divined (or ordained?) course. Pisces woman is the most vulnerable of characters, yet she is the most often described as a survivor. The sign rules the feet but, in paradoxical fashion, we often see Pisces having issues with their brains—Liza, Liz Taylor, Sharon Stone, the list goes on. Someone once asked Tennessee Williams what happened to Blanche DuBois, (that Pisces character forever taking baths, spouting astrological insights, avoiding the harsh light of reality, and wearing Mary’s signature “della robbia” blue) after her mental breakdown and the end of A Streetcar Named Desire. His answer was that she opened the chicest, most successful dress shop in New Orleans.
